I am Fiona Cooper, I live near Tamworth, NSW. I have been exhibiting pedigreed cats since 1985, and have owned and bred several Cats of the Year, mainly Burmese and also an Oriental which was Cat of the Year twice. I am an All Breeds Judge and have had the pleasure of judging in most states of Australia, both islands of New Zealand, in South Africa and in China.
While my main aim is to breed outstanding show quality kittens, I also have beautiful pet kittens available. My breeding cats are all tested for HCM via ultrasound, are hip scored and DNA tested, and my cattery is Feline Leukemia and FIV negative. I am a registered breeder with Cats NSW Inc. My first litter of pedigree kittens was born in 1986 and my first litter of Maine Coons was born in 1999. In 2002, two of my imported Maine Coons were awarded Cat of the Year awards in the NSW Cat Fanciers Association - Best Male Cat was GDGC & CCCA Ch Kititas Spellbinder (Imp UK), and Best Female Cat was GDGC & CCCA Sapphire TGC N*Arctic Coon's Kon Tiki (Imp Nwy). Also in 2002 came my first Kitten of the Year award with a home bred kitten, Coolcoons Take A Chance was Female Kitten of the Year. Take A Chance is by my other import from Norway, N*Arctic Coon's Little Polarbear and out of my other import from the UK, Kititas Dreamweaver. I want to thank both Benthe Prytz from Norway and Catherine Letts from the UK for their kindness and generosity to a relatively new breeder of Maine Coons, and for sending me such wonderful cats. |
In 2003, I also had some wonderful show results with several cats and kittens placed in the Cat of the Year pointscores.
In 2004, I again had a terrific year of showing.
In 2005 I had a break from exhibiting, but at the first show of 2006 won Best Male Kitten in one ring and Best Female Kitten in one ring with the two exhibits I took to the show.
As there were so few Maine Coons in Australia when I tried to purchase my first breeding cats, I decided to import my first two cats. There were two available at the time in New Zealand, so they became my first Maine Coons, arriving in Australia in February 1999.
The next addition to the family came from Cathy Walker's Gradach Cattery later in the year. I thank Cathy sincerely for allowing Squeak to come and live with me. I am also very grateful to Cathy for her patience and generosity with her time in answering questions regarding breeders in other countries where I may be able to acquire more Maine Coons for Australia.
I was also lucky enough to purchase two breeding girls from Heather Rome in Western Australia, Majesticoon Imogen (black mackerel tabby) and Majesticoon Kismet (red mackerel tabby).
Kititas Spellbinder (black silver classic tabby and white) and Kititas Dreamweaver (blue silver classic tabby) arrived in December 1999 from Catherine Letts in the UK. They were followed in mid 2000 by Kititas Dare To Dream (black classic tabby and white) and Kititas True Illusion (black tortie tabby).
In March 2001 N*Arctic Coon's Little Polarbear (black mackerel tabby) and N*Arctic Coon's Kon Tiki (black tortie tabby) arrived from Arve and Benthe Prytz from Norway.
I have also imported two girls from Annette Norris in New Zealand, Dreamstalker Angel Mine (black classic tabby and white) and Maineflame Island Dream (black tortie mackerel tabby).
In 2003 N*Arctic Coon's Zamzon (blue) and N*Arctic Coon's Midnight Sun (black tortie) arrived to live with me.
Since then I have imported another 3 girls from Annette, Maineflame Legally Blonde (green eyed white), Maineflame Peaches N Cream (cream mackerel tabby bicolour), and Maineflame Panda Bear (black bicolour).
